The debut disc from a progressive Canadian '90s rock band. Combining the sounds, technology, and production of the '90s, and borrowing from '70s (and, to a point, '80s) progressive rock, this band has created their own sound. Genesis, Marillion, and Gentle Giant all flow through this CD, and it is somewhat refreshing to hear such influences done '90s style. A couple of songs are very good, especially the wonderful "Sea of Tranquility" and "To the Sun," and the rest of the CD is enjoyable as well. One small problem is that the production does not assist the music, and quite often it has the sound of a very well recorded demo tape. For the most part, the musicianship is very skilled, and the band has a very good sound. Again, however, it is noted that the band produced and arranged the songs themselves, and they might have been better served had they utilized a third party producer or arranger, given that this is their debut. However, even with such criticisms, their debut does present the listener with a lot of good songs, and any fan of progressive rock, with long guitar solos and wonderful "organ" sounds (as opposed to the all-too-common synth sound) will enjoy this CD. ~ Aaron Badgley
